Memorial Garden

The Manchester Firefighters Memorial Garden was dedicated on September 11, 2002 in memory of ALL THAT ANSWERED THE FINAL ALARM. Located at Station #5, 331 Tolland Tpke., Manchester, CT the garden is a mix of memorials and plantings adjacent to the American Flag.
A New York Memorial consists of two retired twin alarm boxes depicting the North and South WTC Towers. On either side of the Towers, engraved in glass, are the names of all 343 New York Firefighters lost including their rank and assignment. A Worcester Memorial consists of a wooden gate with the names of the 6 Worcester firefighters lost. Bushes spelling out a large W6 accompany the gate for an aerial tribute. The centerpiece of the garden is a large, hand etched, memorial stone depicting Manchester's Twin Quints, Old Glory and our American Eagle.
Directions: Exit 63 off Interstate 84. (1 min. off highway) going eastbound, right off exit, left onto Tolland Tnpk. Going Westbound, right off exit, right onto Tolland Tnpk.

The main fundraiser for the garden is a full color woven blanket 4'x 5' depicting the famous scene of the 3 firefighters raising the American Flag. The words,"We Will Never Forget Our American Heroes" and the number 343, along with the maltese cross in each corner frames this American Tribute. A portion of the $60.00 donation for each blanket will go to the Bravest Fund. For blanket information, call (860)643-8047 or Station #5 at (860)647-3265.
